An Apple a day keeps the doctor away.....
Well, a good old saying! It's debatable,but certainly can contribute to good health, if consumed as a part of a healthy wholefood diet the right way.
Notes about apples
Conventionally grown apples may have pesticide residue on the skin. Apples are often included on the Environmental Working Group's (EWG) Dirty Dozen list, which lists fruits and vegetables with the most pesticide toxins. So the most nutritious part of the apple, the skin should be removed to eliminate these toxins.
In order to avoid this buy organic apples and we can the leave skin on!
Choosing organic apples can minimize the risk of pesticide exposure. Organic apples may also be healthier for the for us, host plant, and environment than conventional apples.
Non-organic apples
Just in case there are no organic apples available.
To reduce pesticide exposure, you can wash apples thoroughly before eating them. You can also soak apples in a mixture of two cups of water and one teaspoon of baking soda for about 15 minutes.
